Thank you Gooner its a much appreciated site you buildt up.Me and my friends have got some real good advice here and nice reading hope we can give you and the guys back something in the future.
Why do Watford hate Luton.? That's a damn good question and I'm afraid I don't know the answer... The rivalry has always been there since I have been going and visits to Kenilworth Road have never been pleasant.
The Wiki reason isn't too clear either:
"Watford fans maintain a rivalry with those of Luton Town. The two sides met regularly in the Southern and Football Leagues from 1900 to 1937, but Luton's promotion meant that aside from a Southern Cup meeting the two sides did not meet again until 1964. Throughout the sixties and seventies the two sides met sporadically, and the rivalry gradually grew in significance, bringing with it trouble in the ground and outside of it."
Think we have always been too small to have any of the major London teams as rivals but I do remember Brentford being seen as rivals a way back.
There have been very few players that have made the move in either direction. I can only think of Alan Garner and Matthew Spring who have successfully migrated and then there was the absolute disaster of taking Kerry Dixon on, which caused outbreaks of fighting among Watford fans....
Can't see us playing them too often in the near future though..
Hi Gooner
After "enduring" last seasons home performances, this season has been a lot better, although it looks like the wheels have come off now and we are drifting towards mid-table, so maybe now we find out how good sven is. Funny how football is after wigan game all doom and gloom, week before at old trafford they gave me the best birthday present ever.
congarts on the Milan game Arsenal were awesome.
congrats on the site, have been around it for a cuople of years now
